We’re looking for an experienced Group Treasurer to join our team and lead our Treasury and Insurance functions. This is a broad and influential role, with the opportunity to shape Affinity Water’s funding strategy, financial resilience and approach to financial risk management. The key priorities will include raising debt, developing and implementing a Treasury Management System and strengthening our approach to financial risk management.

You’ll also play an important role in navigating a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, with significant exposure to shareholders and senior stakeholders across the business. You’ll need to be equally comfortable discussing leakage detection technology with operational teams as you are discussing derivatives and funding strategies with banking partners.

Working closely with the CFO and teams across Finance, Tax, Legal and Operations, you’ll bring strong commercial and technical expertise to a wide range of strategic decisions, helping to shape Affinity Water’s long-term financial resilience and performance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the Treasury and Insurance functions, ensuring strong leadership, governance, controls and processes.
  • Develop and deliver an efficient funding strategy, including cash management and debt funding programmes.
  • Oversee the Group’s funding structure, liquidity requirements and market access strategy.
  • Maintain robust liquidity forecasts and oversee daily cash balances.
  • Own the Group’s financial risk management and hedging strategies, including interest rate, inflation and energy risks.
  • Manage relationships with banks, bond investors, debt analysts and credit rating agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements, including Whole Business Securitisation documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate Treasury Management Systems and controls are in place.
  • Lead negotiations relating to performance bonds, guarantees, indemnities and other financial instruments.
  • Provide treasury input into budgeting, forecasting and regulatory planning, including the Price Review process.
  • Work closely with Finance, Tax and Legal on key financial and strategic matters.
  • Oversee the Group’s Insurance function, ensuring an efficient insurance programme and effective claims management.

What you’ll bring:

  • Significant corporate treasury experience, with strong exposure to debt financing and complex funding structures.
  • Experience of Whole Business Securitisation structures, ideally within a regulated industry.
  • Experience executing financial market transactions, particularly within the UK public bond market.
  • Experience working with credit rating agencies would be beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of financial risk management, including interest rate, inflation and energy-related risks.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • A recognised Treasury qualification (AMCT) is essential.
  • An accountancy qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

Benefits:

  • Salary circa £100,000 dependant on skills and experience.
  • Car allowance £461.25 per month.
  • Learning and development opportunities, including mentoring and a range of formal courses and open learning resources.
  • Entry into the company annual bonus scheme.
  • Annual leave from 26-30 rising with length of service, and the option to purchase up to 5 extra days.
  • A ‘Celebration Day’ in addition to public holidays that people can use to celebrate a religious festival or other occasion that is important to them.
  • A generous 'double match pension scheme' that doubles the contributions you make (company contribution capped at 12%).
  • We offer a range of family benefits including enhanced Maternity, Adoption, Paternity, Shared Parental Leave, Fertility Support Leave and up to 5 full or 10 half days of paid Carers Leave.
  • Menopause policy and Reasonable Adjustment policy to help everyone perform at their best.
  • Access to our Wellbeing Centre with support for looking after your physical and mental health.
  • Discounts at a Range of Retail Outlets through our Tap4Perks scheme.
  • Discounts on Dental and Medical Insurance through our Tap4Perks scheme through salary sacrifice.
