Affinity Water is seeking an Asset Scientist (Hydrogeology) to provide expert technical leadership in protecting and optimising our groundwater assets. This role will act as the primary technical point of contact for large infrastructure projects, ensuring risks to public water supply boreholes and wells are identified, monitored, and mitigated through all project phases.
You will support operational teams by leading borehole inspection and maintenance programmes, supervising inspections and rehabilitation works, and ensuring asset health, regulatory compliance, and delivery to time and budget. The role also involves close collaboration with regulators, contractors, and internal teams, undertaking fieldwork, data analysis, reporting, and providing specialist input into water resource investigations and environmental protection initiatives.
This is a key role in safeguarding water quality and supply resilience while supporting Affinity Water’s wider environmental and asset management objectives.
What you need:
- Qualified to MSc level (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline, with practical knowledge in hydrology/hydrogeology/water resources
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and GIS applications
- Good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and to produce high quality and accurate work; excellent communication, planning and organisational skills, team management
- Highly motivated self-starter, able to work on their own as well as part of a team
- Ability to undertake field work safely
- Geographically close to our Central region to undertake field visits with short notice
