We are looking for a Head of Performance & Improvement to lead our central Performance Team and help Affinity Trust use data, learning and improvement to make good decisions, strengthen accountability and deliver better outcomes.
About the role
This is an impactful role in Affinity Trust's Senior Leadership Team.
You will lead our performance framework, helping leaders see what is working well, what could be better and what action will help most.
Working with Operations, Finance and People teams, you will use performance data, workforce insight, financial information and outcome measures to support clear decisions and better services for the people we support.
Success in this role will mean leaders have useful insight, performance discussions are evidence-based, and improvement actions are owned, tracked and delivered.
- What you will be doing
- Lead our performance framework, including focused KPIs, dashboards and reporting for senior leaders, Board Committees and governance forums.
- Turn complex data into practical insight that helps teams understand performance, spot risks and take action.
- Provide constructive challenge and support to leaders, helping them understand performance issues early and agree clear, evidence-based actions.
- Lead deep-dive reviews to understand the root causes of performance issues and turn findings into practical improvement plans.
- Use benchmarking to understand differences and support improvement.
- Work with colleagues to improve data quality, reporting tools and how insight is used across the organisation.
- Strengthen how we measure outcomes and social impact for the people we support.
- Help teams plan their workforce, use resources well and make good financial decisions.
- Lead and support the central Performance Team and build strong working relationships.
About You

You may have worked in performance, insight, improvement, strategy, operations, finance, workforce planning, business intelligence or a similar area.
We are looking for
- Experience of improving performance in a complex or multi-site organisation.
- Good analytical skills, including working with large datasets.
- Able to turn data into clear recommendations and practical action.
- Able to produce clear reports, dashboards and insight for senior audiences.
- Able to present credible insight to senior leaders, committees and the Board, or ready to step into this responsibility.
- Experience working with senior leaders and budget holders.
- Able to improve operational, financial or workforce performance.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships.
- A values-led approach and the ability to support people to take action.
- Experience in adult social care, the charity sector, regulated services or person-centred support would be helpful, but it is not essential.
This role involves national travel and occasional overnight stays, so you will need full driving licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to insure your vehicle for business use.
