The Role
We are looking for an experienced and dependable Senior Support Worker to join a residential childcare team. In addition to providing day-to-day care, you will take on a leadership role within the home, supporting less experienced staff and helping to maintain high standards of care. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, ensuring children and young people feel safe, supported, and encouraged to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care in line with Ofsted standards and individual care plans
- Act as a role model and provide guidance to Support Workers on shift
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Support daily routines including education, activities, appointments, and home life
- Encourage independence, resilience, and personal development
- Manage challenging behaviour using a calm and therapeutic approach
- Contribute to care planning and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Liaise effectively with families, social workers, and external professionals
- Help create a safe, stable, and structured home environment
About You
- Genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- Calm, resilient, and confident in managing challenging situations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in residential childcare
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
