Are you enthusiastic about supporting the mental health and well-being of children and young people? Affinity Workforce Solutions are working with an outstanding special school called The Skills Hub and the Pride Academy which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 5 to 19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Social, Emotional and mental health needs. The Skills Hub is a co-educational Alternative provision for pupils in the London Borough of Hillingdon who cannot attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons. It holds pupils, many of whom have been, or at risk of, permanent exclusion.

In recent years there is a massive focus on supporting the mental health and SEN needs of pupils in mainstream and SEN schools. Affinity Workforce Solutions are currently seeking practitioners to support these pupils on a 1:1 or general classroom basis to start ASAP, for the rest of the Academic Year in a range of schools across West Drayton (with an option of progressing onto contract with the right school). As a Youth Mental Health Support Worker, you will be involved in not only supporting pupils within the classroom but will also be comfortable with running activities with the pupil/s outside the classroom as well. Alongside the class teacher, you will also provide support with ensuring the right support is in place for the students.

Benefits of working with Affinity Workforce Solutions:

  • You will be paid a competitive daily wage, based on your experience
  • Dedicated consultant allocated to support you with any questions or concerns
  • Support in writing CVs and job applications
  • Fast, effective compliance service
  • £200 for any successful referral of Teachers and £100 for Teaching Assistants!
  • You will receive free, up-to-date safeguarding training
  • Training workshops and CPD courses to provide professional development

The client that I am working with are keen to ‘work together to transform lives and across the whole organisation we have a range of experts and practitioners who advocate for children and young people with SEND to ensure they receive the best possible opportunities to achieve their full potential’. This position is on a full-time basis and full support and guidance will be given. There will also be opportunities to complete additional training whilst in the role. Pay is £92.59-£154 per day, based on experience. This would be a great opportunity for someone that has experience supporting pupils in school or an alternative setting, but we will also be considering people without this experience.

How to prepare for a job interview at Affinity Partnerships

✨Know Your Stuff

Make sure you understand the role of a Behaviour Mentor and the specific needs of children with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Familiarise yourself with the school's ethos and how they support their pupils. This will show your genuine interest and commitment during the interview.

✨Share Personal Experiences

If you've had any relevant experiences, whether in education or personal life, be ready to share them. Talk about how you've supported young people in the past, even if it’s outside a formal setting. This can help the interviewers see your passion and capability in action.

✨Prepare for Scenario Questions

Expect questions that ask how you would handle specific situations with pupils. Think about strategies you might use to engage students or de-escalate challenging behaviours. Practising these scenarios can help you articulate your thoughts clearly during the interview.

✨Ask Thoughtful Questions

At the end of the interview, have a few questions ready to ask about the school’s approach to mental health support or professional development opportunities. This shows that you’re not just interested in the job, but also in how you can grow and contribute to the team.
