Affinity Partnerships is working with Briarwood School in Knowle to recruit dedicated, caring and passionate SEN Teaching Assistants. We’re proud to be recruiting on behalf of the OFSTED Outstanding Special School, offering fantastic opportunities to work in a specialist SEN setting supporting children and young people aged 3–19 with autism, severe learning difficulties, and complex needs. Due to rapid growth, the school is recruiting for several Teaching Assistants roles on a permanent basis. These opportunities are ideal for candidates with experience in care, support work, or education, looking to move into a rewarding term-time-only position with excellent work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Work with teachers to deliver learning activities and progression targets
  • Support challenging behaviour and promote a safe, structured environment
  • Provide personal care, including hygiene and wellbeing support
  • Work alongside therapists and SEN professionals
  • Prepare and organise classroom resources

About You

  • Experience in SEN, care, support work, or education (desirable)
  • Confident supporting complex needs and challenging behaviour
  • Patient, resilient, and compassionate
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

The Package

  • £17,857 to £20,082 per annum
  • Term-time only - 13 weeks school holidays (with paid annual leave included)
