Affinity Partnerships is proud to be working with Briarwood School in Knowle to recruit passionate, caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistants, as the school expands to support 233 pupils by September 2026. This OFSTED Outstanding Special School supports children and young people aged 3 to 19 with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, and complex needs. Due to continued growth, the school is recruiting multiple Learning Support Assistants. The Role – Learning Support Assistant

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
  • Support learning activities and individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Promote communication, emotional regulation and independence
  • Support behaviour management and maintain a safe environment
  • Provide personal care, hygiene, and welfare support
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals
  • Support assessment, record-keeping and pupil progress
  • Deliver specialist interventions and therapy programmes
  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times

About You

  • At least one year’s experience working in a learning, childcare, nursing or similar setting
  • Experience of applying regulations relating to Health & Safety, hygiene, child welfare and protection
  • Experience in SEN, care work, support work, childcare or education
  • Confident supporting autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs
  • Compassionate, patient and resilient
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

The Package

  • £22,325 – £24,352 (depending on experience and service)
  • Term-time only role with approximately 13 weeks’ school holidays
  • Permanent contract with long-term stability
  • Full induction and ongoing training
