As part of the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS), we supply and maintain aircraft to support the military pilot training pipeline. We are now looking for two Flight Line Operations Supervisors to lead and deliver safe, efficient ground operations in support of the Daily Flying Programme (DFP). This is a safety‑critical role where you will coordinate aircraft availability, allocate personnel, and work closely with engineering, aircrew, air traffic control, and our customer to ensure flying operations run smoothly and efficiently.
These are part‑time, permanent positions, working 35 hours per week on a rotating early and late shift pattern. These roles are based across RAF Cranwell and RAF Barkston Heath, supporting flying operations at both locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate serviceable aircraft to the Daily Flying Programme using TMIS, monitoring fuel status and aircraft readiness.
- Communicate aircraft priorities, fuel loads, and operational requirements to the Ground Handling Team.
- Liaise effectively with client operations, Part 145 Engineering, ATC, aircrew, and other stakeholders.
- Manage aircraft usage to support maintenance planning and maximise availability.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry on NGen and other operational systems.
- Maintain live aircraft state and location information.
- Lead and supervise the ground operations team, allocating tasks and ensuring DFP changes are achievable.
- Provide line management support including appraisals, managing absences, and ensuring adequate staff cover.
- Oversee local ground operations training and competency requirements.
- Provide operational desk and hands‑on ground handling cover on a rotational basis.
- Promote a strong safety, quality, equality, and continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications
- Recent practical experience in a military or civilian aircraft operations role.
- Experience managing or supervising a team in a safety‑critical environment.
- Aircraft ground handling experience (marshalling, towing, refuelling).
- Experience using aviation radios and standard radio procedures.
- Full UK driving licence.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 5–9 / A–C or equivalent).
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Recognised Human Factors training.
