Summary Of Role

As an Assistant Manager, you are now stepping into a leadership position, overseeing not just tasks but people and projects too. You are also contributing directly to the growth of Affinia. You are transitioning from the product expert into a leader, business developer and a key contributor to the practice’s growth and client satisfaction. In this role, you will work alongside our Cloud Accounting team to support their requirements as well as supporting the wider business. We operate a hybrid working model, so you will split your time between working in your primary office location, visiting other offices and client sites when needed, and from home when you are able to. We offer training and development via LinkedIn Learning, Croner-i, Mercia and Tolley’s (where relevant) to develop your hard and soft skills. In partnership with your line manager, you’ll craft a development plan that supports your career goals and aspirations.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of accounting services to our clients.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service.
  • Take more responsibility for the development of the team and contribute to business development.
  • Support the manager in overseeing a portfolio of clients.
  • Mentoring duties for junior members of the team.
  • Review of work completed by junior team.
  • Be confident holding business advisory conversations with clients.
  • Supporting with software implementations.
  • Take ownership of own L&D and ensure knowledge on relevant software and apps is up to date.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Professional Skills/qualifications

  • Experience with cloud accounting systems.
  • Previous experience working in an outsourced finance department.
  • Provable experience managing a team and allocating workload.
  • Strong time and deadline management skills.
  • Fully qualified AAT and part qualified ACCA/ACA / Qualified by experience.
  • Experience completing implementations of accounting systems is desirable.
  • Highly organised with a good eye for detail.
  • Previous experience managing service to clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.

A degree isn’t essential but may be advantageous (e.g. in Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Science). A-levels (or equivalent) in Maths and/or English may be advantageous but are not essential. A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Level 5 and above), which must include Maths and English Language.
