Purpose Of The Role

The Revenue Controller is responsible for driving the effective conversion of Work in Progress (WIP) into billed revenue across the Affinia Group. Reporting to the Group Head of Working Capital, this new, growth position will provide dedicated ownership of revenue conversion performance, billing discipline, aged WIP management and lock‑up reduction. Working closely with Regional Heads, Office Leads, Service Line Heads, Client Managers and Finance teams, the Revenue Controller will challenge, influence and support stakeholders to improve billing performance, strengthen revenue governance and enhance working capital outcomes. The role will play a central part in the delivery of Affinia’s billing transformation programme, supporting sustainable behavioural change, reducing revenue leakage and embedding best practice revenue management processes across the Group.

Accountabilities

  • Take ownership of aged WIP management and actively drive the conversion of WIP into billed revenue across the Group.
  • Monitor WIP, billing and lock‑up performance, identifying risks, opportunities and areas requiring intervention.
  • Partner with Regional Heads, Office Leads, Service Line Heads and Client Managers to improve billing performance and working capital outcomes.
  • Lead regular WIP review meetings, ensuring clear actions are agreed, tracked and delivered.
  • Challenge and “escalate” aged, high‑value or high‑risk balances to drive timely resolution and minimise write‑off exposure.
  • Promote compliance with Group billing policies, revenue governance requirements and best practice revenue management principles.
  • Identify revenue leakage risks, billing delays and process inefficiencies, recommending and supporting corrective actions.
  • Produce and analyse WIP, billing and revenue performance reports, providing actionable insight to leadership teams.
  • Support the implementation of billing improvement initiatives, including milestone, interim and recurring billing arrangements where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Credit Control and Finance teams to improve end‑to‑end revenue conversion and cash generation performance.
  • Undertake root cause analysis of WIP accumulation and support process improvements that strengthen billing discipline and reduce lock‑up.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Group’s working capital and billing transformation objectives, helping embed a culture of accountability, commercial awareness and timely billing.

Skills/ Qualifications

  • Experience in a Revenue Controller, WIP Controller, Billing, Working Capital or Revenue role.
  • Operations role within a professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of WIP management, billing processes, revenue conversion and lock‑up management.
  • Proven ability to influence, challenge and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Commercially aware, with a focus on cash generation, revenue protection and performance improvement.
  • Experience of managing aged WIP, billing performance and revenue recovery activities.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience producing meaningful management reporting and insights.
  • Experience using CCH and financial reporting systems would be advantageous.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of delivering measurable improvements.
