Role Description
The Football Coach role at AFC Wolves CIC is a volunteer position with a hybrid working pattern, based in Wolverhampton with some preparation and administrative tasks carried out from home. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging training sessions, coaching teams during matches, and promoting a safe, inclusive environment for players of varying ages and abilities. The coach will provide constructive feedback, support player development goals, and model positive values such as respect, teamwork, and resilience. Additional tasks may include communicating with parents/carers, attending club meetings or training, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of coaching practices through the club’s Coach Development Programme.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong coaching and leadership abilities, including planning sessions, managing groups, and motivating players in line with club values.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with players, parents/carers, volunteers, and club staff.
- Candidates should possess an understanding of player development principles, safeguarding, and safe practice in youth and adult football environments.
- Candidates should possess basic organisational and administrative skills to manage training schedules, match preparation, and simple digital or written records.
- FA coaching qualifications (or willingness to work towards them through the Coach Development Programme) and prior experience in grassroots or club football are highly beneficial.
- An enhanced DBS check (or eligibility to obtain one), commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and the ability to work within club and FA policies are required.
- Reliable availability for regular training sessions, matches, and occasional club events, with the ability to travel to Wolverhampton for in‑person activities.
