As a member of our multi-skilled and mobile site team, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, testing and sign-off of our projects. You will be enthusiastic and keen to solve problems and assist in the delivery of our projects in a manner that exceeds our customers’ expectations and ensures that our work adheres to the Company’s management systems including all occupational health and safety (OH&S), environmental and quality policies and requirements.

Your role includes:

  • Carrying out electrical installation and refurbishment works on existing water company sites in accordance with the project requirements and programme.
  • Working on client sites across the region, which may require working away from home and staying overnight during the week subject to the project location.
  • Undertaking paid overtime as required.
  • Working outside and on sites that convey sewage as well as drinking water while complying with necessary hygiene standards.
  • Assisting the project team to specify job requirements and the parts/equipment/materials needed for the job.
  • Compiling survey reports for quotation purposes.
  • Working in the company workshops as required to build and repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Reading, understanding and following risk assessments and method statements.
  • Inspecting, surveying, identifying faults, carrying out works and testing electrical systems.
  • Completing required paperwork for each project and compiling reports to demonstrate installation and testing work has been carried out successfully, accurately and timely.
  • Utilising design drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
  • Troubleshooting when issues arise and following the correct procedure to identify solutions and ensure they are implemented effectively.
  • Complying with BS7671 requirements as well as company and client specific standards.
  • Being accountable for your own health and safety and that of others under your control.
  • Working as part of a team and cooperating with other staff/trades.
  • Ensuring the quality of your work on site is completed right first time and to Company standards.
  • Observing and complying with all good working practices.
  • Being capable of working at heights and in confined spaces in industrial environments.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 2+ years’ related experience post qualification in electrical installation and testing, preferably in the UK water sector.
  • Fully qualified electrician (NVQ level 3 or equivalent) (essential).
  • 17th / 18th Edition (essential).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Test and Inspection (advantageous).
  • Control and automation experience (advantageous).
  • Jib Gold card.
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential).
  • Confined spaces training (preferable).
  • ECS Gold card or ability to easily obtain one.
  • EUSR clean water card (preferable).
  • Emergency first aid or First Aider (preferable).
  • Able to work well in a team and give as well as take instruction.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge and application.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake training as required.
  • Positive “can do” attitude with flexible approach to work and ability to work on own initiative.

Working Conditions:

Based at treatment works, pumping stations, or regional sites. Includes site visits, climbing ladders, confined space areas (with training). Participation in standby/rota call-out system may be required. Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
