Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager will help drive growth within the company-owned Aldridge SPAR store. As a member of the ‘Duty Manager’ team, you will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating a team of colleagues across all operational hours. You will ensure excellent customer service and contribute to achieving store sales and profitability through initiatives like ‘Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food For Later, Food For Now’.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Store Manager to maintain a safe, legal, and high-performing store, taking overall responsibility during Duty Manager shifts
- Assisting in delivering all store operations, objectives, and KPIs
- Managing, coaching, and supporting colleagues to develop a motivated and empowered team through positive, engaging leadership
- Handling performance and absence management as needed
- Occasionally opening or closing the store, ensuring colleague safety and stock/cash security during shifts
- Carrying out cash reconciliations, refunds, voids, and other management tasks for till colleagues
- Leading by example to provide an exceptional customer experience, setting us apart from competitors
- Engaging with the local community of Aldridge to promote the store and support local initiatives
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and processes
Duty Manager Skills Required:
- Previous management or supervisory experience in food retail or a similar fast-paced environment
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service standards
