ROLE PURPOSE
The Membership Sales Manager is responsible for growing the Aethos London membership community through 2026. This role is fundamentally about scaling the membership community growth through profile and cultural connection. While the position owns the membership pipeline and conversion journey, success in this role comes from building relationships, creating introductions, developing partnerships and bringing the right people into the space in a way that feels natural and aligned with the Aethos identity. This role suits someone who already moves confidently across creative and professional networks in Shoreditch and wider London, someone who understands how communities grow from experience in a venue, cultural institution or another members club. Working closely with the wider hotel, events and partnerships teams, this role helps shape who discovers Aethos and how they become part of it. The role will be measured through membership growth, engagement and conversion performance, while maintaining the cultural integrity of the club as it expands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Membership Sales & Lead Generation
- Own and drive membership acquisition through relationship‑building, partnerships, events and personal networks.
- Identify and introduce prospective members across creative industries, founder communities, agencies, local businesses and cultural networks aligned with the Aethos spirit.
- Act as a visible and active presence within the Shoreditch community, helping position Aethos as a natural meeting place for the right audience.
- Support awareness through conversations, introductions and invitations alongside traditional sales outreach.
- Pipeline & Conversion Management
- Manage the membership journey from first introduction through to application and onboarding.
- Host tours and conversations that communicate the atmosphere, culture and value of the club in a way that feels welcoming and personal.
- Maintain a structured CRM pipeline and track lead sources, conversion progress and membership activity.
- Balance relationship‑led introductions with clear ownership of conversion performance.
- Partnerships & Business Development
- Work alongside the Marketing & Partnerships Manager to build relationships with local studios, agencies, creative organisations and Shoreditch networks that naturally connect with Aethos.
- Represent Aethos externally at events, openings and cultural moments across East London.
- Develop collaborations that bring aligned audiences into the space and support long‑term membership growth.
- Sales Targets & Revenue Growth
- Deliver against agreed monthly and quarterly membership acquisition targets.
- Provide clear visibility on pipeline performance and membership activity.
- Identify opportunities to shape membership incentives, partnerships and entry points that support growth while protecting the integrity of the club community.
- Prospect Experience
- Create thoughtful and memorable introductions to Aethos for prospective members.
- Host tours, attend events and facilitate conversations that allow potential members to experience the space as it naturally operates.
- Ensure the membership journey feels considered, welcoming and reflective of the Aethos approach to hospitality.
- Strategic Growth Initiatives
- Work closely with the General Manager and marketing team to support membership campaigns, launch activity and seasonal growth initiatives.
- Contribute ideas that strengthen awareness of the club within the Shoreditch neighbourhood and wider London creative scene.
- Support programming and partnerships activity where this creates natural entry points into membership.
- Membership Onboarding
- Oversee onboarding for new members, ensuring applications, payments and CRM records are managed smoothly.
- Help introduce new members into the rhythm of the club so they quickly feel part of the community.
- Support early engagement moments that strengthen belonging from the beginning.
- Cross‑Department Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with hotel, F&B, programming and marketing teams to ensure membership remains integrated into the wider life of the building.
- Help connect membership with events, partnerships and cultural programming activity across the house.
- Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, lead sources and membership growth against targets.
- Track how prospective members are discovering Aethos and help identify opportunities to strengthen acquisition channels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Required / preferred experience in membership, events, partnerships, community growth, creative networks or lifestyle‑led environments (could be a venue, cultural institution or an online community). Confidence introducing people, building relationships and representing a space within a neighbourhood or creative ecosystem. A track record of converting interest into commitment in a way that feels natural and relationship‑led rather than transactional. Strong interpersonal communication skills with a warm and engaging presence. Ability to manage pipeline activity independently while staying connected to a wider team. Confidence using CRM systems and tracking membership activity. An existing network across Shoreditch, East London and a deep understanding of the wider London cultural community would be particularly valuable.
