ROLE PURPOSE
The Membership Director owns the entire membership ecosystem: acquisition, commercial strategy, member journey, retention, and long-term community growth. This role sets the direction for the club: who we bring in, how we scale, and how we continually elevate the member value proposition. You work hand-in-hand with the Community Manager, who focuses on daily programming and experience execution. Success: Build the most relevant, future-facing members community in London - commercially strong, culturally resonant; rooted in our East London community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acquisition & Growth (Primary Focus)
- Deliver and sustain an acquisition pace of 50+ new members per month in 2026.
- Build and execute a market-specific acquisition strategy aligned with Aethos global positioning and London's competitive landscape.
- Manage the full sales funnel: prospecting, lead qualification, hosting tours, pitching value, closing, onboarding.
- Build partnerships, ambassador networks and brand alignments that feed high-quality leads.
- Own commercial reporting, forecasting and membership revenue performance.
- Work with the community manager in programming to deliver value and engagement to the membership base.
- Lead annual membership reviews, benchmarking and competitive analysis.
- Lead the Committee as a centre stone strategic group for acquisition and club positioning.
- Build personalised retention pathways that maintain loyalty, reduce churn, and drive ongoing participation.
- Oversee all member communications and touchpoints to ensure clarity, consistency and impact.
- Track engagement analytics and intervene early where needed.
- Work closely with GM, Marketing, F&B, and Operations to ensure membership strategy is fully aligned with the hotel and Mitsus positioning.
- Translate member insight into operational decisions, programming priorities and brand direction.
- Deliver against agreed monthly and quarterly membership acquisition targets.
- Provide clear reporting on pipeline performance, lead generation activity and conversion rates.
- Identify opportunities to optimise pricing, packages and incentives to accelerate growth.
- Ensure prospective members receive a highly personalised and compelling introduction to Aethos.
- Host tours, events and introductions that showcase the culture, energy and value of the membership experience.
- Work closely with the General Manager and marketing team to execute targeted membership campaigns, launch initiatives and promotional strategies designed to drive acquisition during the critical growth phase of the club.
- Oversee the onboarding of new members, ensuring applications, payments and CRM records are accurately managed and each member is introduced to the club in a way that reflects the Aethos brand.
- Produce regular sales reports covering pipeline activity, lead sources, conversion performance and membership growth against targets.
