We are looking for a Staff Nurse for our client’s nursing home in Singapore.
Responsibilities
The Staff Nurse is primarily responsible for the overall nursing care and clinical management of the residents under their charge.
I. Core Responsibilities & Patient Care
Clinical Assessment & Planning
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalized, holistic, and cost-effective care plans for residents, especially upon admission and as conditions change.
Monitor, record, and report changes in residents\’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
Medication & Treatment Administration
Administer treatment, medication, and injections as prescribed by the doctor, strictly following established policies and procedures.
Perform clinical procedures such as wound dressing, management of feeding tubes (NGT), urinary catheters (IDC), and stomas.
Emergency & Crisis Management
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, perform basic cardiac life support (BCLS) procedures, and manage emergency care.
Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are upheld.
Documentation
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient care records and documentation (often electronic).
II. Team Leadership & Supervision
In a nursing home setting, the Staff Nurse often takes on a supervisory role within their team.
Supervision & Guidance
Supervise, guide, and train Enrolled Nurses, Nursing Aides, and Care Associates in the delivery of quality patient care.
Function as the nurse‑in‑charge for the assigned shift or unit when necessary.
Collaboration
Work closely with doctors, allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists), social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
III. Patient & Family Education
A crucial part of the role involves communicating with and educating residents and their caregivers.
Health Education
Educate residents and their families/caregivers on disease prevention, health maintenance, chronic disease management, and proper care techniques.
Provide emotional and psychological support to residents and their families.
Discharge Planning (Care Transition)
Proactively engage with residents and families regarding the discharge process, coordinating a smooth transition from the nursing home back to their own home (or other care settings).
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board.
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership and supervisor experience.
Other Information
Location: A Nursing Home, Singapore.
Working days & hours: 8.30 to 5.30 pm, 1 weekend – 7.20 to 12.30 (either Sat or Sunday).
