The Senior Designer role is an integral part of the engineering team and plays a key role in the delivery of bespoke seal designs for non-standard applications based on our standard product range and design engineering support to a number of other departments including, Sales, Application Engineering and Manufacturing. The role requires application of design engineering and computer aided design (CAD) skills, interpretation of specifications, and in order to deliver solutions to time sensitive customer needs.

The Senior Designer needs to be effective in fast paced environments and dynamic with shifting priorities. Job Dimensions The role will involve supporting engineering activities, understanding customer requirements, developing knowledge of AESSEAL products and technologies, participating in design and problem-solving activities, and collaborating with departments across the business to deliver customer value and business improvement initiatives.

The Senior Design Engineer will be expected to: Review customer specific requirements including project specifications to identify understand the key deliverables and offer a suitable sealing solution. Have or develop an in depth understanding of the extensive range of sealing products AESSEAL offers. Bespoke seal design, using standard seal face geometry, for non-standard applications and equipment Modification of standard seals for non-standard equipment. Design of special test equipment to suit specific applications.

Creation of new/special bills of materials to aid administration and purchasing functions. Support with conceptual design of complex design solution supporting product development and complex solutions Ad hoc engineering support and department organisational tasks. Provide Guidance/mentoring to junior colleagues. Check the work of others.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Qualifications Essential Qualified to a minimum of HNC/Degree in a Mechanical engineering related discipline or equivalent in experience Desirable BEng/MEng qualification or equivalent. Professional Registration or working towards professional registration.
