We are excited to offer keen Year In Industry placement student candidates a 12-month engineering placement for 2026, designed to provide a dynamic and immersive experience to help us improve the business from within the engineering function. This placement will focus on a dedicated engineering internship project aimed at transforming how we use our engineering data to drive our customer-facing business systems and product standardisation initiatives. The activities focus on a core part of supporting the company's digital roadmap.
Project Focus: The successful candidate will lead enhancement of our engineering data utilization, impacting our customer-facing business systems. This revolves around:
- Developing and implementing data-driven solutions for product selection and specification.
- Enhancing pricing and quotation systems.
- Automating design systems and contributing to standardization efforts.
Technical Development: Throughout the placement, the successful candidate will gain in-depth knowledge of rotating equipment, specifically pumps and their sealing applications. This includes:
- Understanding various makes, models, sizes, and applications.
- Learning about user industries, legacy and modern standards.
- Mastering mechanical seal selection, application, installation, and design fitment.
Data-Driven Problem Solving: Engage in data-driven engineering problem solving, utilizing analytical tools and methodologies to derive insights and solutions from engineering data.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Business Assurance to ensure project success and compliance with customer specifications.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Education: University students pursuing a BEng or MEng (or similar) in mechanical, chemical, design engineering, or related fields with an option to take Year In Industry placement.
Skills & Knowledge: Strong grasp of engineering theory and practical application. Proficiency in mathematical, design, and practical skills. Technical versatility and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Character: Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. Eager to contribute to continuous improvement. Curious, determined, and self-motivated. Positive, encouraging, and professional.
