Job Description

1.Job Purpose

Your role will involve managing and developing a team of Inspectors by providing operational support and expertise in all aspects of Inspection practice. This is a hands-on and varied role that will cover the UK and some overseas work.

2.Job Dimensions

This role is primarily based in Rotherham but does involves some UK and occasional overseas travel. As well as managing a team of 18 inspectors across various shift patterns.

3. Principal Accountabilities

  • Assisting in the development the Inspection function in-line with the Business Management System and corporate objectives.
  • Reportingon all manufacturing quality related matters to the Branch Manager.
  • Developing and maintaining SPC processes across all facilities.
  • Evaluation of all rejects via root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain both online and off-line programming software for CMMs.
  • Facilitate and support the metrology aspects, of the businesses drive towards process automation.
  • Ensuring the continuity and smooth running of the Inspection Department.
  • Developing all members of the Inspection team to ensure they are fully trained on all forms of measuring equipment.
  • Regular travel between Rotherham and Bradford, as well as occasional overseas work.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities required that may not necessarily relate to your current role.
  • Be familiar with all relevant Health & Safety, Management of Risk, Operational, Personnel policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Education
Essential

  • HNC / HND in an engineering related discipline.

Desirable

  • Mitutoyo CNC CMM programming course.

  • Knowledge and understanding of SPC and process capability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Improvement methods and techniques.

Desirable

  • Experience of programming Mitutoyo CMMs both online and offline.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused, engineering environment.
  • Experience of measuring tightly controlled Geometric tolerances.
  • Experience of working with high accuracy vision systems.
  • Experience of working with surface finish measurement.
