Job Purpose
To contribute to the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of commissioned youth training programmes, providing an engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning experience that supports young people to achieve positive outcomes and progression.
The postholder will be responsible for planning and delivering learning within the relevant subject area, supporting learners to achieve agreed qualifications and personal development outcomes, and maintaining accurate learner, assessment and programme records in line with organisational, contractual and awarding organisation requirements.
The role will also involve recruiting and inducting learners, building positive professional relationships, supporting vulnerable and challenging young people, working with external partners and stakeholders, and contributing to high levels of learner retention, achievement and progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, inclusive and learner-centred youth training programmes.
- Deliver agreed qualifications, personal development and employability workshops to the required standards.
- Plan learning and assessment with learners and monitor individual progress towards achievement.
- Develop lesson plans, course materials, learning resources and assessment activities.
- Recruit, enrol and induct learners, ensuring all eligibility and programme documentation is completed accurately.
- Build positive professional relationships with young people and provide effective one-to-one and group support.
- Motivate and support vulnerable learners, manage challenging behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Monitor attendance, engagement, retention, achievement and progression, taking action where learners are at risk of disengaging.
- Conduct regular learner reviews, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of progress and outcomes.
- Support learners to progress into employment, further education, apprenticeships or other positive destinations.
- Work effectively with employers, training providers, referral agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate learner, assessment, attendance, quality and compliance records within required timescales.
- Monitor contractual and programme performance targets and contribute to quality assurance, audits and inspections.
- Follow all safeguarding, equality, health and safety, confidentiality and professional-boundary requirements.
- Contribute to team development, share good practice and support continuous improvement of programme delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
- Recognised teaching/training qualification such as PTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, PGCE, IAG or equivalent.
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council, where applicable.
- Knowledge of current education and training practices, safeguarding and child protection.
- Experience working with vulnerable and/or challenging young people in an educational or training environment.
- Experience delivering training, assessing learners and supporting educational or employment progression.
- Experience of partnership working, programme coordination and developing learning materials.
- Strong communication, organisational, time-management and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour, maintain professional boundaries and engage learners effectively.
