We are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Care Assistant. You need at least 6 months of experience in this role. If you do not have a current Enhanced DBS or Moving & Handling (M&H) training, we will help you apply for the DBS and provide the practical training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to individuals with mental health needs.
  • Assist senior staff and nurses in carrying out patient care plans.
  • Help patients with daily living activities while encouraging their independence.
  • Monitor patient behavior, mood, and well-being, and report changes to the team.
  • Use calm communication to support patients during times of distress or anxiety.
  • Keep accurate, clear notes on patient progress and daily observations.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for everyone.
  • Escalate any safety or safeguarding concerns to management immediately.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months of direct experience as a Mental Health Care Assistant.
  • DBS Check: Willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS check (or hold a current one).
  • Training: Willing to attend and complete practical Moving & Handling training.
  • Skills: Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Attributes: Empathetic, patient, and emotionally resilient when handling challenges.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a shift pattern, including weekends or nights.
