Band 6 CAMHS Nurse responsible for assessing the mental health needs of children and young people, developing and delivering evidence-based care plans, managing complex caseloads, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams, coordinating care, and promoting safeguarding in community settings.
Key responsibilities:
- Comprehensive assessments: Conduct thorough mental health assessments of children and young people, including presenting symptoms, developmental history, family dynamics, and social context.
- Care planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, utilising evidence-based practices and considering the needs of the child, family, and wider support network.
- Therapeutic interventions: Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducation sessions, tailored to the specific needs of each child and family.
- Case management: Manage a complex caseload, prioritising needs, coordinating care with other professionals, and ensuring timely follow-up appointments.
- Safeguarding: Actively identify and respond to potential safeguarding concerns, reporting any suspected abuse or neglect according to established procedures.
- Community engagement: Build relationships with local agencies and community services to facilitate access to support and promote mental health awareness.
- Clinical supervision: Participate in regular clinical supervision to maintain professional development and reflect on practice.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Professional registration: Relevant professional registration with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., Nursing and Midwifery Council for nurses).
- Postgraduate qualification: A postgraduate qualification in child and adolescent mental health, such as a diploma or masters in CAMHS.
- Clinical experience: Proven experience working with children and young people with a range of mental health needs in a clinical setting.
