Overview
AESC UK is seeking a highly experienced Capex Manager to oversee end-to-end procurement and management of bespoke equipment and system solution contracts across multiple major projects. This is a permanent role with responsibility for contract management, financial controls, and supplier management within high-value, complex capital expenditure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle contract management for CAPEX projects, from tendering to contract close-out.
- Deliver strategy through supplier relationships across multiple projects including equipment CAPEX and MRO projects for UK plants.
- Negotiate, draft, and manage complex contracts for bespoke equipment and system solutions, ensuring full commercial and legal compliance.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate contract risks, including:
- Defects Liability
- Liquidated Damages
- Delayed Payments
- Warranty Bonds
- Performance Bonds
- Review, understand, and comment on contractual changes independently without regular reliance on legal support.
- Drive value for money across all CAPEX investments.
- Deliver results in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including presenting confidently to very senior directors and executives.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail across all contractual and commercial aspects of CAPEX projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, to specification, and within budget.
Qualifications
- Extremely robust – capable of handling challenging environments and personalities without losing focus or professionalism.
- Self-starter and completer-finisher: able to take full ownership of tasks through to delivery without being micro-managed.
- Highly experienced in complex, high-value capital project environments (preferably £10m+ per project).
- Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of contract law principles relating to CAPEX projects.
- Results-driven with a relentless focus on delivery and performance.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, especially with senior leadership.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under sustained pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Proven track record of achieving successful project outcomes despite tight constraints and complex stakeholder environments.
- Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and willingness for continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, and presentation skills are a must.
Essential Requirements
- Significant previous experience managing contracts in a CAPEX environment (equipment and system solutions preferred).
- Strong technical understanding of contract management principles and commercial risk management.
- Hands-on experience with performance and warranty bonds, liquidated damages, and associated contractual obligations.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Full UK driving Licence
- Some UK/European travel required.
- CIPS or MCIPs is preferred for this role.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and SAP is preferable.
