Financial Accountant in Sunderland

Reporting to the Country Accounting Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will have responsibility for a range of finance tasks for two rapidly expanding manufacturing businesses and other related businesses. Main duties will include group and external P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, forecasting / budgeting (P&L, Balance Sheet), VAT / ONS.

Outline and Responsibilities

• Accounting for entities the business has in Sweden, UK holding companies, two UK manufacturing companies and a UK joint venture
• Revenue accounting for the two UK manufacturing companies
• P&L and BS reporting into Group and externally
• Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Preparing the statutory accounts
• Supporting the External Audit
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Reviewing the SOX controls of the business, formalising and documenting accounting procedures and controls
• Supporting the SOX internal audit
• VAT returns
• Costs analysis for the corporation tax computation
• New project activities
• Completion of various Office for National Statistics (ONS) returns
• Liaising with the Plant Finance team

Experience and Qualifications

• Qualified accountant or QBE
• Experience of operating in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• Experience of external and group reporting is essential
• Excellent understanding of accounting fundamentals, and experience of maintaining financial controls
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving techniques
• Experience of using SAP in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and other PC applications.
