Job Purpose: The Process Safety Specialist will support the Process Safety Manager in ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of process safety systems at Envision AESC UK. This role will focus on hazard identification, risk assessment, and technical safety studies to ensure compliance with Upper Tier COMAH regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Safety Analysis & Compliance:
- Assist in conducting HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA, HAZIDs, and other hazard studies.
- Support the development and implementation of major hazard risk assessments.
- Conduct Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) for new and existing processes.
- Assist in defining the Chemical and Operational Bases of Safety (Fire and Explosion Prevention).
- Perform pressure relief and process engineering calculations related to safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with COMAH regulations, supporting the preparation of safety reports.
- Provide technical support for the design, installation, and commissioning of new production machinery.
- Assist in process safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Identify and mitigate process-related safety risks in plant operations.
- Develop and review safe systems of work to uphold process safety standards.
- Support functional safety assessments and compliance with DSEAR, ATEX, PUWER regulations.
- Contribute to the development of process safety training programs for operational teams.
- Monitor and analyze process safety performance, proposing improvements where necessary.
- Stay updated on process safety best practices and regulatory changes.
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams on process safety principles.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related field.
- Experience in process safety management within a COMAH-regulated site.
- Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and process safety legislation.
- Familiarity with HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, DSEAR, ATEX, PUWER, and functional safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to support safety investigations and drive improvements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and operational teams.
