This is a senior technical role for an experienced Plumbing and Heating Design Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and helping systems perform at their best. You’ll play a key part in improving the long term reliability and performance of renewable heating systems across our customer portfolio.
Working closely with our Service Delivery Manager and Project Delivery teams, you’ll lead on system redesign, upgrades and remedial work, while also supporting new installations through high quality, install ready designs. This role is primarily based from our Heat Pumps Office in Dingwall, where you’ll work closely with delivery teams in a collaborative technical environment.
The focus is on system design, investigation and problem solving, producing clear documentation and practical solutions that support our field teams and give customers confidence in their systems. You’ll act as a trusted technical lead within the business, providing guidance, clarity and calm leadership on complex jobs, and helping us continuously improve how we design and deliver renewable heating systems.
What you’ll be doing:
- Investigating underperforming or damaged systems and identifying root causes
- Designing upgrades, remedial works and system improvements
- Producing detailed plumbing and heat pump designs, schematics and sizing calculations
- Creating clear drawings, Bills of Materials and work instruction packs for installers
- Supporting new installations with compliant, practical system designs
- Working closely with the Service Delivery Manager to plan and prioritise complex service jobs
- Providing technical guidance to installers and field engineers throughout delivery
- Acting as an escalation point for challenging technical issues
- Ensuring all designs meet AES standards and safety requirements
- Maintaining accurate system records following post install changes
- Sharing technical insight with delivery teams to improve future installations
- Identifying recurring issues and feeding learning back into training and product decisions
- Building strong working relationships across service, projects and operations
