An exciting opportunity has risen for an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to hold the Safety Manager, Compliance Monitoring Manager and Head of Independent System Monitoring post holder positions across our multiple approvals (UK CAA Part-145, Part CAMO, Part 21G and Part 21J) at AS Aerospace Ltd. in Denham. The role of Nominated Post Holder will be responsible for managing and developing the organisation’s Integrated Safety & Compliance Manual and Safety Management System (SMS) for our sister companies AS Aerospace Ltd. and Aerospace Design Facilities Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor procedures to ensure compliance with UK CAA Part 145, Part CAMO, Part 21G and Part 21J regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for the CAA and external auditing bodies. Manage, review, and execute the annual Compliance Audit Programme covering all our organisational approvals. Ensure all findings (internal and external) or observations identified have been actioned effectively via the root cause analysis process within the agreed timeframes. Maintain and update company expositions and manuals (e.g. ISCM, MOE etc). Manage company authorisations for all organisational approvals. Manage and have oversight of staff competency for the various disciplines.
  • Safety Management System (SMS): Manage the SMS on behalf of the Accountable Manager. Facilitate the risk management process that includes hazard identification, risk assessment, management of change (MoC) and risk mitigation. Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan, unless action follow-up is addressed by the compliance monitoring function. Provide periodic reports on safety performance. Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards. Initiate and participate in occurrence / accident investigations. Understand and disseminate information from other similar organisations, the regulator and contracted organisations. Oversee and manage the Safety Action Group and Safety Review Board.
  • Culture & Training: Promote a healthy “Just Culture” where safety reporting is encouraged. Deliver mandatory training, recurrent training and individual training plans for all staff as required. Encourage a positive and active reporting culture, demonstrating multiple levels of reports being raised and investigated. Deliver or coordinate mandatory human factors, safety, and compliance training for all engineering and administrative staff. Delivering information including safety promotion, safety surveys, safety notices, meetings and organisational wide safety stand downs.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience and qualifications required to hold the nominated post-holder position for the Compliance Monitoring Manager, Safety Manager and Head of Independent System Monitoring as specified in initial airworthiness and continuing airworthiness regulations. Previous acceptance by the CAA as a nominated post-holder for Safety & Compliance is required. Sufficient knowledge of helicopter maintenance and aircraft management such that the candidate could with confidence carry out the requirement for aircraft product and component sampling, records and reviews. Has an in-depth understanding of UK CAA Part-145, Part CAMO, Part 21G and 21J approvals. Accredited training as a Compliance / Quality Auditor or a minimum of 3 years’ auditing experience.
