The position of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is defined to be an integrated part of the Aerospace Design Facilities organisation with a functional link to AS Aerospace, Engineering Service. The job description is as follows:

  • Provide technical solutions and develop modifications to customer aircraft, Civil and Military.
  • Responsible for the Management/Liaison of all documentation associated with Part 21 subpart J & G activities.
  • Provide support to the Part 145 and Part M CAMO.
  • Ensure all modification records are retained and preserved as required by the regulatory authority.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Customer liaison developing customer concepts and requirements.
  • Supporting the ADF Head of Design Manager in the preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Lead and support a small team of Mechanical Design Engineers in delivery of customer projects.
  • Engage with OEM and other suppliers with a view to gaining detailed understanding and required documentation to facilitate installation/integration design of customer requirements.
  • Liaise with the Production organisation to solve problems during installation manufacture.
  • Production of modification control documentation etc.
  • Production of reports i.e. test documents etc.
  • Production of modification control documentation and subsequent certification with CAA, EASA, MAA or any other regulatory authority.
  • Presentation of information at PDR, CDR and any external design reviews.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities CAA, EASA, MAA.
  • Adhere to the Part 21J DOA manual and contribute to the ongoing development of procedures related to the design organisation.

Job Holder/Qualifications/Education:

  • Extensive Part 21 J experience within the Aerospace Industry in design and development of Engineering Projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of FAR/CS/UK Certification Specifications and their application in design.
  • Master of Engineering – Aviation Engineering.
