We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as an Occupational Hygiene Technician. The role will be based in Glasgow and requires the successful candidate to be on site in either Govan or Scotstoun 4.5 days per week (early finish at lunchtime on Fridays). This will be working a 37 hour week with a 1pm finish on Fridays. Flexible working hours are also available.

The role will be based in their SHE Technical Services Team which is a highly skilled, collaborative SHE community supporting some of the UK’s most critical Naval Ship programmes. Working alongside engineers, project leaders and delivery partners, the team combines deep technical knowledge with a pragmatic, enablement-focused approach to safety, health and environment.
The Occupational Hygiene Technician will help identify, assess and control health risks from workplace hazards such as noise, dust, fumes, chemicals and other potentially harmful exposures. The role involves monitoring and sampling, supporting risk assessments and providing reliable data to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and industry standards. Within Naval Ships, the role plays a key part in protecting worker health by identifying exposure risks and supporting the implementation of effective, inclusive control measures across shipbuilding, integration, and commissioning activities.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will conduct exposure monitoring for welding fumes, noise, chemicals and vibration to assess workplace risks.
- Ensure you support health risk assessments throughout ship build, integration and commissioning activities.
- You will provide practical, inclusive control recommendations aligned with naval standards and shipyard operations.
- Ensure you collaborate with stakeholders to ensure occupational hygiene considerations inform decisions.
- Interpret and report occupational hygiene data to enable safe, evidence-based actions.

About You:
- Demonstrable experience delivering exposure monitoring within high-hazard environments.
- Relevant qualification in occupational hygiene (e.g. BOHS modules, CertOH or DipOH) or working towards professional accreditation.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
