We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Quality Assurance Engineer. The role will be based in Portsmouth and offers a hybrid working pattern (3-4 days per week on site). This will be working a 37 hour week with a 1pm finish on Fridays. Flexible working hours are also available.
The company works at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries. You will be joining the Maritime and Land Defence Solutions QA team who work closely with projects delivering a range of products and services to their defence customers in the UK and abroad. The QA team provides assurance that Quality requirements are being met so that their output delivers the capability their customers demand and rely on. The team consists of 16 people across 3 sub teams (QA/ QC and CI) with this role joining the QA sub team. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge with the potential to progress into more senior positions within a global business.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work as a fully contributory member of the Quality team
- Undertake specific complex Quality Assurance activities across Maritime and Land Defence solutions
- Awareness of Customer Quality conditions
- Support the management of non-conformance resolution and corrective actions with suppliers, key stakeholders and process owners
- The ability to analyse data effectively resulting in themes and corrective actions
- Contribute in working groups ensuring deliverables are achieved and Learning from Experience (LfE) is captured and applied
- Support departmental reviews and liaise with the customer when required
- The ability to produce written reports and presentations ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaning

About You:
- NC or HNC qualified in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent Quality experience
- Quality professional, lead/ internal auditor status or equivalent experience
- Ideally you will have a background in maritime/ shipbuilding/ military or engineering but this is not essential.
- Understanding and application of ISO 9001 / EN9100 standards
- Understanding of Business Management Systems, the Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process
- Any knowledge or experience using SAP would be advantageous but not essential
- You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
