We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Sheet Metal Worker. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern.

The company is at the forefront of designing and building world-leading naval ships. Their work is vital to supporting the security and defence of nations around the globe and they pride themselves on delivering high-quality and innovative solutions. As part of a growing team, they are looking for a talented and experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join them in delivering eight Type 26 frigates to the Royal Navy.

The Sheet Metal Worker team delivers upgrades, refurbishments, and new installations across secure company sites, working in groups of 6-12. A qualified Sheet Metal Worker contributes to high‑quality HVAC and furniture manufacture, supported by SVQ 3 Marine Engineering, NC/HNC Fabrication and Welding and post‑apprenticeship industrial experience.

There are 3 shifts available (although the successful candidate would start on a day shift and would then discuss with their manager if they would prefer a different shift):

  • Day Shift: Monday- Thursday 7.00am- 4.30pm
  • Night Shift: Monday- Thursday 8.30pm- 6.00am
  • Weekend Shift: Friday- Sunday 7am- 7.30pm

Overtime is also available. You will also be required to submit your trade certificates after an initial phone call with our recruiter.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manufacture and install high‑quality sheet metal components, including ventilation systems and internal fittings.
  • Produce accurate, well‑finished work that meets required standards and quality expectations.
  • Apply practical problem‑solving skills to resolve issues during manufacturing and installation, ensuring correct fit and safe completion.
  • Work collaboratively within a skilled team to maintain a safe environment and deliver reliable installations that keep projects on track.

  • Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts.
  • Overtime Pay rates: Monday- Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd), Saturday: 1.5 (Time and a half), Sunday: 2.00 (Double time).

You will hold a recognised Modern Apprenticeship, Trade Papers, or SVQ/ NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent). Experience in construction, manufacturing, marine, or other practical engineering environments is required. A good understanding of SHE and COSHH requirements, following safe working practices and safety training is essential. You must demonstrate solid attention to detail, using your craftsmanship skills to deliver accurate, high-quality work. Due to the nature of our client’s business, you must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
