Aeropeople are looking for a Project Controller for our client based in Corsham. This is a fixed term contract which will last until the end of March 2027 but may possibly be extended beyond this. We are seeking an ambitious, energetic and experienced Project Controller who will provide critical expertise to the Delivery Portfolio Management Office, supporting the incredible breadth of SKYNET Projects.

The Project Controller will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and assuring high‑quality project plans across multiple SATCOM and SKYNET projects. The role supports programme delivery through robust scheduling, RAIDO management, reporting, and continuous improvement of planning processes. The role will be hybrid working, with an expectation to be on site 1-2 days per week but this can be negotiated. There is also the opportunity to work in a local office if this is more suitable. There may be additional travel requirements for specific client events. Due to the nature of our client's business within the Defence sector, suitable candidates must already hold current SC clearance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop, manage, and maintain project plans, timelines, and resource forecasts. Track progress, update schedules, and ensure alignment with project and programme objectives. Produce and maintain core planning artefacts, including the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Basis of Estimates (BoE). Build fully resource‑loaded schedules that comply with programme standards and maturity requirements.
  • RAIDO Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Validate assumptions, resolve issues, and manage key dependencies. Identify and exploit opportunities to improve project outcomes.
  • Planning & Scheduling Management Services: Provide resource management insight (MI), highlight constraints, and escape intolerable resource over‑allocations. Conduct monthly schedule assurance and peer reviews to confirm planning artefacts meet expected standards. Maintain high‑level products such as the Plan‑on‑a‑Page (POAP). Validate supplier EVM data to monitor performance against plan. Provide mentoring and training to Crown Servant staff on planning and scheduling best practice. Attend and contribute to project‑level meetings and planning governance forums. Ensure planning inputs, artefacts, and schedules are delivered on time and meet required quality standards.

About You

  • Proven experience of complex public sector delivery project (Project Controls), preferably in a MOD context.
  • Experience in Planning, Scheduling & RAIDO.
  • Experience using Microsoft Projects and Active Risk Manager (ARM).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to keep moving forward despite ambiguity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Previous space related experience is desirable.
  • Detail‑Oriented: Precision in managing tasks and documentation.
  • Collaborative: A team player, comfortable working with multiple functional teams.
  • Adaptable: Able to thrive in a changing environment and embrace new challenges.
  • Self‑starter: Requires minimal oversight and can quickly pick up and own tasks.
