Job Title: Pipefitter Salary: £40,016 per annum + shift allowance + overtime Location: Glasgow We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Pipefitter. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern (please see details below). The company works at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries. They are looking for a skilled and experienced Pipefitter to join their team in Clyde. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and installing piping systems across a range of projects in the defence sector. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of piping installations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. There are 3 shifts available (although the successful candidate would start on a day shift and would then discuss with their manager if they would prefer a different shift) and the hours of work within each shift are highlighted below. Please note that both the night shift and the weekend shift will include a 33% shift allowance on top of the basic rate. * Day Shift: Monday- Thursday 7.00am- 4.30pm * Night Shift: Monday- Thursday 8.30pm- 6.00am * Weekend Shift: Friday- Sunday 7am- 7.30pm Overtime is also available- please see rates of pay below in the ‘Benefits’ section. All successful candidates will be required to attend a Trade test which will be held in Glasgow in October 2025. You will also be required to submit your trade certificates after an initial phone call with our recruiter. Main Responsibilities: - Fabricating and installing pipework systems in large and small-bore pipework using different materials (copper, CuNi, carbon steel and stainless steel) - Using a range of hand tools & mechanical equipment to cut, bend and weld pipes as well as installation of pipework. - Installing utilities aboard ship i.e. sinks, showers, and toilets - Install and assemble fittings, valves, and related components according to drawings and specifications. - Collaborate with other trades to ensure the timely and accurate completion of projects. - Adhere to safety regulations and company procedures at all times - Maintain accurate records of work carried out Benefits: * Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts * Overtime Pay rates are as follows: * Monday- Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd) * Friday: 1.5 (Time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafter * Saturday: 1.5 (Time and a half) * Sunday: 2.00 (Double time) * Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined * Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times * 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years’ service/ 27 days after 10 years’ service * Shared Incentive Plan * Employee Assistance Programme * Cycle to Work Scheme * Life Assurance (you and your spouse/ partner)- 6 x salary * Ill Health Income Protection/ Private Medical Insurance- 50% of salary About You: Essential: - Modern Apprenticeship certificate/Trade Papers (you will be required to provide these papers) and relevant qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) - Current knowledge and experience of pipe manufacture, installation, and use of associated equipment - Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, tools, and safety standards - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications - Clear understanding of SHE, COSHH and Risk Assessments - Proven experience as a Pipefitter or similar within an industrial or commercial environment Desirable: - Marine Pipefitting Experience - Experience in industrial or commercial settings preferred - Understanding of manufacturing processes - Experience in TIG Pipe - Welding You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years About Aeropeople: Whether you’re looking for your next job or searching out the next superstar to join your team… Aeropeople’s expertise and experience is entrenched in the aerospace, aviation, engineering, motorsport, automotive, and defence industries.
