Salary: £38,662 per annum + shift allowance + overtime

Location: Glasgow

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as an Electrician. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern (please see details below).

The company is at the forefront of designing and building world-leading naval ships. Their work is vital to supporting the security and defence of nations around the globe and they pride themselves on delivering high-quality and innovative solutions. As part of a growing team, they are looking for a talented and experienced Electrician to join them in delivering eight Type 26 frigates to the Royal Navy.

As an Electrician, you will play a key role in the installation of electrical systems on their state-of-the-art naval vessels. Their skilled electrical teams work on a variety of scope from advanced military communication systems and weapons systems to small power and lighting systems.

There are 3 shifts available (although the successful candidate would start on a day shift and would then discuss with their manager if they would prefer a different shift) and the hours of work within each shift are highlighted below. Please note that both the night shift and the weekend shift will include a 33% shift allowance on top of the basic rate.

* Day Shift: Monday- Thursday 7.00am- 4.30pm

* Night Shift: Monday- Thursday 8.30pm- 6.00am

* Weekend Shift: Friday- Sunday 7am- 7.30pm

All successful candidates will be required to attend a Trade test which will be held in Glasgow in October 2025. You will also be required to submit your trade certificates after an initial phone call with our recruiter.

Main Responsibilities:

* Installation of a variety of types of cables (multi-core, single core and co-axial) & electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches etc.)

* Cable termination and installation of all electrical equipment

* Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

* Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of electrical installations

* Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards

Benefits:

* Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts

* Overtime Pay rates are as follows:

* Monday- Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd)

* Friday: 1.5 (Time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafter

* Saturday: 1.5 (Time and a half)

* Sunday: 2.00 (Double time)

* Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined

* Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times

* 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years’ service/ 27 days after 10 years’ service

About You:

– Modern Apprenticeship – SVQ 3 or equivalent

– Relevant experience in a marine installation or major industrial installation environment

– Understanding all assessments, Risk, PUWER & COSHH

– Understanding of relevant trade drawings

– Knowledge of tag out process and the correct proving dead procedure

– Mounting of electrical equipment & components

– Earthing of equipment and termination of cables to workmanship standards

– Please ensure you have attached a copy of your qualifications when submitting your application.
