About the Role

Prestwick Aerosystems continues Ayrshire’s long standing aircraft manufacturing tradition. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture aircraft wing structures used on Airbus commercial aircraft worldwide. The role is accountable for managing and developing accurate “Bills of Materials” maintained within the ERP system, ensuring valid Engineering Processes are deployed in the manufacturing process, managing formal Engineering Changes with the customer, deploying Continuous Improvement tools, translating Design Data (e.g., CAD/CATIA) into clear work instructions, and supporting the Quality and Engineering Team Leader with people issues such as PDR, training/development, and WTMS responsibilities.

How You Will Contribute

  • Translate Design Engineering data and specifications into clear and concise work instructions for manufacturing assemblies, meeting customer and regulatory authority requirements.
  • Maintain, develop, and compile detail packages of work and Conditions of Supply for external manufacture with suppliers.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement to achieve significant productivity and quality improvements by analysing and eliminating waste (seven wastes), developing production smoothing methods and Kanban systems, reducing set‑up and overall cycle times, and using problem‑solving tools.
  • Work closely with design to identify and implement cost‑reduction initiatives and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with operators, design, and regulatory authorities to ensure product integrity and compliance.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering staff through the PDR process.

Requirements for the Role

  • Relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and ability to deploy the Continuous Improvement Toolset (Seven Wastes, etc.).
  • Awareness of drawings and systems as applied within major customers such as Boeing and Airbus.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
