Join One of Ayrshire’s Largest Engineering Employers. Prestwick Aerosystems continues Ayrshire’s long-standing aircraft manufacturing tradition. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture aircraft wing structures used on Airbus commercial aircraft worldwide.

To plan, conduct and maintain calibration of equipment and associated documentation in support of Prestwick AeroSystems Ltd and applicable external customers.

How you will contribute to the team

  • Understand the current specifications / British Standards involving calibration tolerances, limitations, and procedures established by the manufacturer and/or internal of the gauges being calibrated.
  • Ensure thorough familiarisation with the calibration methods, techniques, aids, tools and equipment used within their assigned area of responsibility. This familiarisation will include both electrical and mechanical equipment and any future Spirit equipment in support of the growing site portfolio.
  • Maintain proficiency in using the calibration aids in the assigned area of responsibility, while ensuring that the calibration tools and equipment are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.
  • Carry out all necessary work in accordance with the relevant manufacturer’s instructions and/or internal procedures.
  • Liaise with external customers and sub-contractors when required in regard to calibration of equipment and enquiries. Supporting site calibration visits by specialists to ensure effective communication and minimal business impact.

Requirements for the role

  • Served a recognised technical apprenticeship in a Mechanical and/or Electrical discipline and have experience in using specialized equipment.
  • Experience in applying tools and techniques (e.g. tool use, use of software packages).
  • A basic level of computer literacy (essential).
