What will I be doing?
- Prepare and install tools, measuring and test equipment and automatic control stations
- Load the computer programs specified in the production procedures and input production equipment settings, ensuring that it functions correctly
- Run the machine program to perform the operations, and perform the intermediate checks specified in the production process, drawings or written instructions, ensuring geometric tolerances and quality compliance
- Inspect the finished product and identify any defects
What do I need to succeed in the role?
- You must have a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3
- Understanding of the basic principles of the pipe manufacture process
- Knowledge of Assembly and completion of associated production acceptance testing
- General knowledge of Fabrication and the relevant machinery
- Ability to follow and understand technical drawings, specs, procedures & Test instructions
- Understanding of the risks related to Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
- Knowledge of and proficiency with quality tools such as 5S, Lean/6-Sigma
- Ability to self-inspect & complete dimensional measurements
- An understanding of the programming of CNC machines would be an advantage
