Safran is an international high‑technology group operating in aerospace, space and defense. Safran Helicopter Engines is the world leader in rotorcraft turbine engines, with a long history of manufacturing high‑performance and reliable products for a global customer base.
What will I be doing
The New Part Introduction (NPI) Engineer will be instrumental in bringing new and modified products from design through to production. The role includes industrialization of design changes, introduction of new products into our manufacturing operations, and ensuring robust configuration control while collaborating closely with commercial, purchasing, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrialization of Design Changes: evaluate and implement design changes for existing products, develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, and quality assurance protocols, and coordinate cross‑departmental input to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
- New Product Introduction: lead the transition of new products from design to production, develop detailed project plans (risk, resources, timelines, budget), oversee prototype builds, pilot runs, and production ramp‑up.
- Configuration Control: establish and manage configuration control processes to ensure product consistency, maintain documentation and records of design changes, and communicate changes to stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Liaison: collaborate with commercial teams to align product specifications, work closely with purchasing on material selection, and coordinate with operations to integrate new products efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement: analyse manufacturing processes for cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities, and propose data‑driven process optimisations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product engineering, preferably in aerospace or a similarly regulated sector.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Experience with AS9100 FAIR process and configuration management systems.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills
- Experience with APQP or PPAP industrialisation processes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements in aerospace manufacturing.
