Mission description
As a Heat Treat Operator, you’ll play a key role in the processing and treatment of various components to ensure they meet stringent quality and specification requirements. You’ll work to Nadcap standards and support continuous improvement activities within the Heat Treat Department, ensuring our furnaces and processes operate to the highest standard.
Responsibilities
- Operating to quality procedures as dictated by Nadcap requirements.
- Completing PIR sheets and all relevant process documentation.
- Reading engineering drawings and understanding process specifications.
- Masking and heat treating components using multiple processes (e.g., carburise, vacuum, salt bath hardening, tempering).
- Performing any heat treat process within the manufacturing route (training provided if required).
- Assessing data from recorders to ensure conformance to drawing and specification requirements.
- Conducting daily furnace monitoring (TPM) to ensure equipment is fit for purpose.
- Supporting quality control systems, investigations (non-conformance reviews, root cause analysis), and continuous improvement activities.
- Assisting in departmental continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Essential skills:
- Experience and knowledge of key Heat Treat processes;
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Desirable skills:
- Understanding of manufacturing-related quality procedures;
- Experience working to Nadcap or similar aerospace quality standards;
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to process improvement;
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to change;
- Ability to work using own initiative.
