Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems. The role is based in Gloucester and supports our MRO site.
Mission Description
The most intricate aerospace components and structures machined by you. Due to increased workload and an expansion to our current Production team, we are seeking a Bushing Machinist to join our MRO site in Gloucester. You'll work with the latest equipment and gain valuable experience in aircraft production, learning and progressing in a growing local team.
Responsibilities
- Set up and secure cutting tools on manual lathes; machine bushings of various materials to required sizes.
- Use a wide range of precision measuring equipment.
- Read component maintenance manuals, CMMs, complex drawings and engineering layouts to determine methods and sequences.
- Fit bushings into aircraft parts using various fitting techniques in accordance with CMMs, WP's and Process Control specifications.
- Work as part of a team and independently as required.
- Actively participate in daily problem solving and continuous improvement events.
Qualifications
- Engineering Apprenticeship or similar ideally gained in aerospace or automotive; not essential.
- Experience in conventional lathe turning and honing.
- Excellent communication, computer, mathematical skills.
- Teamworking ethic, self‑managing, reliable, problem‑solving ability.
- Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times.
Working Hours
Shift rotations comprising days, late, nights and weekends as required.
