Job Overview
Research and Development Engineer Composite Analysis – Banbury, Oxfordshire – On Site.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and analysis of structural composite components using first principles, hand calculations and FEA.
- Develop new finite element models and validate them through hands‑on testing.
- Participate in the manufacturing process of composites, including multi‑axis high‑speed filament winding, high‑pressure resin molding and braiding techniques.
- Collaborate with a small, efficient engineering team to iteratively improve designs.
- Provide guidance and support to team members and stakeholders in the composite R&D domain.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong foundation in engineering mathematics, solid mechanics and stress analysis.
- Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) and developing new models.
- Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing techniques.
- Programming skills in Matlab, Python or Excel for numerical modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an initiative‑driven approach.
- Excellent two‑way communication skills.
- Willingness to conduct hands‑on testing and validate designs.
