Hours – 4pm to 2:30am Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 1:30am Friday. Pay: 4pm-8pm @ £27.50 per hour; 8pm-2:30am / 1:30am @ £33 per hour.
Job Description
The quality inspector shall travel to various supplier facilities to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and/or sub‑assemblies. Parts will be inspected against engineering drawings, customer purchase orders, industry standards, and specifications. The inspector will report inspection accept/reject information directly to the customer via a web application.
Requirements
- Candidate must have practical experience performing in‑process and final inspections on complex machined parts, assemblies, and/or sub‑assemblies.
- Inspections are performed to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or an equivalent standard.
- Must be able to read/interpret engineering drawings and purchase orders (POs); have experience using mechanical inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers; perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) according to AS9102 and have requisite knowledge.
- Ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in aerospace or military/defense manufacturing with proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Candidate should be computer savvy and own a laptop.
- The assignment is an independent contractor (1099).
Responsibilities
- Operation of optical measurement equipment (OGP and 3D scanner).
- Carry out first‑off inspection (manual), receipt inspection, inspection and calibration activities as required.
- Support internal non‑conformance process – raise rejects and ensure containment captured.
- Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Control inspection priorities within the inspection cell.
- Read and understand the requirements on the job card for the operation to be carried out.
- Ensure all documentation required to carry out the operation per the job card is available at point of use and at correct revision.
- Read and understand all manufacturing instructions before operation – including machine and tooling set‑up packs, engineering drawings, data cards, inspection plans, etc.
- Use all measuring equipment as defined within inspection plans to check conformance to requirements.
- Carry out in‑process inspection per inspection plans to ensure components conform prior to passing on.
- Ensure components identified as non‑conforming during in‑process inspection are communicated per the non‑conformance procedure.
- Complete all work booking requirements within the MRP system to ensure accurate WIP records.
- Follow work handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components.
- Ensure work areas are tidy, cleaned and maintained per 5S requirements.
- Comply with all company procedures and policies.
