The role of Electrical Systems Engineer for Aerius Marine UK sits at the core of our business. From supporting the preparation of tender responses through to the development of new HVAC operation and control systems, production of design documentation, technical support to commissioning teams and through life design change and upgrades, the role offers a unique opportunity to experience the full product lifecycle.
Primary responsibilities- Development of the clients’ requirements into viable system designs
- Developing and managing the control philosophy for the HVAC system
- Produce specifications for supplier/subcontractor deliverables
- Managing all aspects of the HVAC control system design and the electrical equipment within the HVAC system
- Managing the HVAC control systems interface with other ship systems, for example: Platform Management System, Low Voltage Electrical Distribution System, C&I (estops and hardwired safety), Condition Monitoring Equipment, Chilled Water System
- Production of design documentation in accordance with contract requirements, including: Interface Specification (control philosophy and PMS physical interface), Software Specification (software design, interface, management and security), I/O schedules, Part Drawings – including control panels and starters, Electrical Load Schedules, Cable Schedules, Termination Schedules, Earthing & Bonding Schedules, Single Line Diagrams, Principle Indication Diagrams (PID)
- Liaising with project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including: Technical support to both internal and external client/supplier design reviews, Integration, validation and safety reviews, suppliers and subcontractors design deliverable reviews including factory acceptance trials
- HNC in Electrical Engineering (equivalent trade qualification or vocational experience will be considered)
- Proven design experience with Marine Electrical Systems
- Experience with naval electrical standards and classification societies
- Proven client interface capability
- Experience of PLC control (preferably with software design/specification experience)
- Experience in Control Panel design and specification
- 2D AutoCAD and Foran
- Experience of leading a small team
- Experience in creating Bill of Materials (BOM) and product data management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
You must possess excellent interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to organise work and meet scheduled targets and deadlines. You must be able to support the Principal Engineer / Project Manager to maintain productivity. You must also have a ‘right first time’ approach and a solutions-orientated attitude to your work.
Training and DevelopmentAERIUS Marine UK supports continuous professional development and will work with the successful candidate to identify relevant/appropriate training. The successful candidate may have the option to emigrate to Australia in support of future project opportunities.
