The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.

Role Overview
As Works Manager you will lead the day-to-day delivery of specialist geotechnical works at Sizewell C, with a particular focus on Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall), P-Wall and soil mixing.
The role will provide site-based leadership to construction teams and specialist subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, to specification and in accordance with the stringent requirements of a nuclear construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of D-Wall, P-Wall and soil mixing operations.
- Coordinate specialist plant, labour, materials and subcontractors.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, methodologies, RAMS and ITPs.
- Manage construction sequencing, daily production targets and programme delivery.
- Monitor productivity, plant utilisation and subcontractor performance.
- Coordinate D-Wall panel excavation, reinforcement cage installation, slurry operations and concreting.
- Oversee P-Wall/piling operations, including sequencing, installation and quality records.
- Manage soil mixing operations, including treatment depths, binder quantities, production rates and testing.
- Work closely with geotechnical and temporary works engineers to resolve construction issues.
- Identify and escalate unexpected ground conditions, obstructions and technical issues.
- Ensure temporary works, working platforms and excavation support are properly managed.
- Maintain accurate daily records and production reports.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety, HSEQ and quality culture across the works.
- Manage subcontractors against agreed safety, quality, programme and productivity targets.
- Support commercial teams with changes, variations and productivity information.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience as a Works Manager, Site Manager, Construction Manager or equivalent within geotechnical construction.
- Strong practical experience of Geotechnical works such as D-Wall, P-Wall, piling and/or soil mixing.
- Experience managing specialist geotechnical plant and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of deep excavation, ground support and ground improvement.
- Experience delivering complex construction activities to programme.
- Strong HSEQ leadership and site management skills.
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
Desirable
- Nuclear or major infrastructure experience.
- Extensive diaphragm wall experience.
- Deep soil mixing / ground improvement experience.
- P-Wall, secant pile or piled wall experience.
- Temporary works experience.
- SMSTS and CSCS Black Card.
- Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Construction qualification.
