About the Role:
Location: Honiton (EX14)
Hours of Work: 37.5
Salary: Up-to £35,000.00 (DOE)
Role Overview: A hands-on technical sales role at the heart of AEP's sales team. You'll be the first point of contact for customers and our Field Sales Engineers, using your technical know-how to find the right compressed air solution – from rotary screw, piston and oil-free compressors to air treatment (dryers, filtration, condensate management), pipework installations, spares and consumables. It's a great place to build real engineering and commercial expertise, with the opportunity to progress into field sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the go-to contact for inbound enquiries by phone, email and web – getting to the bottom of what each customer needs and turning enquiries into orders.
- Put together accurate, competitive technical quotations for compressors, air treatment, pipework systems, spares and consumables using SAP.
- Solve real engineering problems by selecting and sizing equipment for each application – flow (cfm / m³/min), pressure (bar), air quality to ISO 8573-1 and duty cycle – working alongside the Sales Manager and Field Sales Engineers on more complex system designs.
- Follow up your quotations and manage your own live pipeline of opportunities.
- Help customers cut their energy use and carbon footprint with energy-saving solutions – variable speed drive (VSD) compressors, heat recovery, air leak detection surveys and air audits / data logging.
- Work closely with Field Sales Engineers and Area Sales Managers on quotations, tender responses, technical data sheets, site surveys and customer appointments.
- Own sales orders from start to finish, liaising with purchasing, OEM suppliers, stores and the workshop to confirm lead times, delivery and installation dates.
- Build strong relationships with your own portfolio of key and repeat accounts, and win back dormant and lapsed customers to generate new business.
- Keep customer, quotation and order records accurate and up to date in SAP / CRM.
- Resolve customer queries, returns and warranty claims promptly.
- Keep growing your product knowledge through manufacturer and in-house training, and stay on top of competitor products and pricing.
Benefits:
- 25 days Annual Leave, plus an extra day for every 5 years of continuous service.
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
- Death in Service Benefit.
- Day to Make a Difference (Charity Day) - Benefit available after completion of a successful probation.
