The company has a solid reputation in the aerospace industry for providing a broad range of services to international and regional airlines, helicopter operators and airframe manufacturers. Conducting business from three sites in the United Kingdom, AEM offers specialist services for in excess of 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment.
Job Purpose
- Determine the repair & overhaul processes required to achieve workshop goals according to product specification.
- Work with operations to identify issues and opportunities; recommends solutions or enhancements.
- Plans and design methods to improve efficiency, trains employees on new processes and methods.
- Improve equipment availability and capability by utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- New Product Development (NPD): Undertake technical evaluation of the repair and overhaul of aircraft components and associated systems to deliver engineering solutions to the workshop.
- Reverse engineering of component assembly.
- Develop, evaluate and approve alternative equivalent tooling designs.
- Lead and/or support New Product Development (NPD) projects to deliver on time to budget.
- Produce detailed design documentation, drawings, and analysis to support project development.
- NPI - Support the creation of technical procedures for workshop guidance and the handover process from engineering to operations.
Sustaining Engineering:
- Provide technical support during equipment breakdowns or non-conformances, including troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
- Oversee the maintenance of internal technical records.
- Design and/or upgrade of tooling and equipment within budget, capable of meeting component test specification parameters.
- Using industrial engineering methods to identify process standard hours and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of technical drawings and documentation.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
