Role Overview
- Lead and deliver daily Plating and Peening operations, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient surface treatment of landing gear components.
- Accountable for throughput, production schedule achievement and on-time delivery.
- Own training, quality, safety, compliance and continuous improvement in line with Part 145 and QEHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and control operations to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.
- Optimise schedules, capacity and flow to maximise efficiency and throughput.
- Identify risks, constraints and bottlenecks, implementing effective recovery plans.
- Lead daily tier meetings, handovers, visual management and weekly production reviews.
- Manage labour efficiency using ERP data, labour bookings and performance dashboards.
- Ensure correct use, calibration and maintenance of all plating and peening equipment.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and environmental control standards.
- Identify, justify and support capital and plant investment requirements.
People & Culture
- Recruit, onboard, train and performance-manage operational teams.
- Maintain skills matrices, training records and succession plans.
- Lead teams positively through change and continuous improvement activities.
- Role-model AEM behaviours and build strong cross-functional relationships.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion lean, 5S, GEMBA and Kaizen activities.
- Proactively manage hazards, unsafe acts and operational risk.
- Lead plating-specific risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Ensure full compliance with Part 145, SMS, Quality and QEHS standards.
- Investigate non-conformances and drive effective corrective and preventative actions.
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Engineering or aerospace manufacturing leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of electroplating processes (Chrome, Nickel, Silver, Cadmium).
- Strong lean capability and high digital competence (M365, ERP, Power BI, AI tools).
- Results-driven, detail-focused, confident communicator able to perform under pressure.
