We’re Aegon, a company of ambitious, positive problem-solvers who get things done. We’re a team, not a group of individuals. Collaboration is our life force and we believe it’s our duty to leave things better than we find them. We help people live their best lives with Pensions, Savings, and Investments.

An opportunity has arisen for an Enterprise Architect (Data) to join our team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will play a key role in guiding Aegon UK through large programmes of change, utilising strategic planning initiatives to manage the transformation needed to achieve business goals. You will offer actionable insights and recommendations to Business and Technology leaders, enabling them to adapt to meet specific business objectives and leverage market disruptions effectively.

Aegon has built a data platform working directly with AWS. We’re looking for someone who can help us transform from data being seen as an asset to our data being a product that continues to add value. You will collaborate with multiple departments, stakeholders, and external vendors to help create a cohesive data strategy that aligns with our business goals.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Establish and maintain the AUK architecture strategy, setting the vision, drivers, and goals that shape the target architecture.
  • Act as a senior leader to represent architecture at the highest levels within the UK, Aegon Group, and externally as needed.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other architects.
  • Lead strategic relationships with key architecture stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate architectural governance is in place within AUK.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing others in the delivery of Business Cases, Impact Assessments, and Architectural Definitions.
  • Relationship Management skills, managing senior stakeholders up to and including Executive level – to build relationships that ensure confidence in the technical delivery capabilities.
  • A proven track record of architecting, building, and administering complex architectures and technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of architecture, enterprise roadmaps, analytics, IT strategies, innovation, and cloud concepts and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud services and architecture best practice.
  • Broad and working knowledge of IT applications, with specific knowledge of how cloud architecture relates to other areas of IT and how it impacts on other business functions.

It would also be great but not essential if you have:

  • Experience in the design and application of architecture within the Financial Services industry.

What’s in it for you?

  • A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%.
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance.
  • 38 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time).
  • Private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave, and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant, and online GP appointments.

The legal bits: We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.

Equal Opportunity Employer: We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their age, disability, race, religion/belief, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
