Transformation Value Management Office (VMO) Director Permanent Location: Edinburgh Salary: We offer a competitive salary, depending on the experience you can bring. Closing date: Friday 4th April.

We are currently looking for a Transformation Value Management Office (VMO) Director to join our team on a permanent basis based in Edinburgh. The VMO exists within our Transformation department to optimise the delivery of business value by aligning strategic priorities with execution. It aims to empower the organisation to make informed, lead indicator decisions through effective governance, transparent reporting, and efficient resource management.

The Transformation VMO Director is accountable for shaping, optimising, maturing, and leading the Aegon UK VMO. The future VMO model will integrate both agile and traditional portfolio management practices to create a multi-modal approach tailored to the organisation's delivery needs. The Transformation VMO Director is an enterprise-wide role and is therefore responsive to the needs of the AUK Executive Committee and wider Senior Leadership Team. You will ensure that the AUK Executive Committee are fully engaged in the strategy delivery process and are able to make decisions in an agile and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Aligning the transformation efforts with the strategic vision and the delivery of measurable business, customer and regulatory outcomes.
  • Collating, constructing, prioritising and sequencing the Mid Term Plan (MTP).
  • Owning and managing the annual Transformation portfolio development process in support of Business Initiative Owners.
  • Optimising portfolio funding linked to business outcomes, ensuring value realisation and efficient demand and supply resource allocation across the enterprise-wide portfolio of change.
  • Optimising the allocation of portfolio funding for sustainable Return On Investment.
  • Value realisation management to ensure that appropriate and agile financial management, governance and reporting are in place to enable decision making with suitable controls to maximise value.
  • Leading the transformation to a multi-modal delivery model, supporting the launch of Value Streams, and embedding a continuous delivery performance improvement plan as we move from project to product.
  • Refining and improving the Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) and the corresponding processes to support an efficient and safe multi-modal approach.
  • Overall ownership of the EDF, including continuous improvement to promote the ongoing safe and predictable delivery of the Transformation Portfolio.
  • Introducing a common goal setting framework which enables the tracking of value using OKRs.
  • Designing and driving an increase in organisational agility, enabling a culture of leading Transformation enablement through innovation and delivery performance maturity.
  • Operating a common and robust governance cycle for all change, which provides appropriate delivery controls and visibility into portfolio performance to enable data-driven decision making.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Practical business experience with significant involvement in complex transformation delivery at scale and/or transformation management.
  • A deep understanding of products and services as well as the vision or target state.
  • Knowledge of VMO and PMO methodologies and how they interlink.
  • Deep practical knowledge of multi-modal delivery approaches including experience of Agile delivery methodologies and execution including scaling, and the shift from project to product.
  • Experience of engaging executive and board level stakeholders to educate and explore transformation opportunities.
  • Knowledge of leading technologies, business models and customer expectations.
  • Understanding of enterprise systems, management information and operating model development.
  • Knowledge of traditional transformation management, including tracking and reporting metrics (budget, schedule, quality), status reporting (both to client organisation and own organisation), risk and issue management, and ensuring a clear process and governance for all these points.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory demands and how they apply across a transformation investment portfolio; strong understanding of pension, life and investment products and platforms preferred.
  • Broad industry knowledge with the ability to connect business requirements to broader business and technology solutions.
  • Previous experience in notable roles in at least two functional areas: Strategy, Transformation, Technology, Product, Design.
