AEGIS London are seeking a part-qualified/newly qualified Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant to assist the financial reporting team with various activities relating to the monthly ledger close, production of the monthly US GAAP group reported result, balance sheet reconciliations, production of the annual UK GAAP financial statements and other ad hoc finance tasks. The role holder will contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust process across all financial ledgers and reporting.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Preparation of monthly journals as part of the close process
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations including bank accounts, prepayments, accruals and intercompany
  • Assist with the development of the Faster Claims Payment system and associated reconciliations
  • Assist with the annual broker review process and the regular coverholder and DCA reviews
  • Assist with the production of the quarterly VAT returns
  • Preparation of monthly lead schedules
  • Assist with the production of the year end statutory accounts
  • Assist in the preparation and update of accounting policy and procedures documentation
  • Ensure excellent communication is maintained with external advisors, (e.g. tax advisors, auditors, investment providers etc.)
  • Prepare information for external auditors and liaise with them to ensure audit goes smoothly and a good relationship is maintained
  • Support in the preparation of the monthly AEGIS Bermuda Quota Share accounting and data reconciliations
  • Participation in finance projects as they arise
  • Other finance tasks as necessary

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Part qualified (over 50%)/Finalist/Newly Qualified
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting and/or Lloyd’s of London experience desirable
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Workday accounting system desirable
  • Strong, clear and well-structured written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to build and maintain co-operative relationships with team members and colleagues
